Comments: Its amazing the Jets and Ravens situation. 50% chance means if they win they are in, but if they lose they miss the playoffs. If a bunch of teams are 8-8 Jaguars would have the tie-breaker for best conference. Dolphins have need pretty much everyone but Denver to lose to get in.

NFC also has to likely Week 17 + Wildcard matchups in Green Bay-Arizona and Dallas-Philadelphia. After seeing these stats I'm a Bengals fan cheering for the Jets Sunday. Should be able to beat them and get our first playoff win since 1990.

Steelers Playoff Picture:
There are still 5 Ways that the Steelers can be eliminated from what I've found, not counting ties of course. Let me know if I missed any:
1. Steelers lose @Dolphins
2. Ravens win @Raiders AND Jets win vs. Bengals
3. Ravens win @Raiders AND Texans win vs. Patriots
4. Jets win vs. Bengals AND Texans win vs. Patriots
5. Texans win vs. Patriots AND Broncos win vs. Chiefs*
*Only scenario that this happens is if Texans, Broncos, and Steelers are the only three 9-7 teams. Conference Record would be Broncos 7-5, Steelers 6-6, and Texans 5-7. The Broncos would then get the 5th seed. Then its between Steelers and Texans for 6th spot. The next tie-breaker is common opponents as long as there is at least four. There is four Bengals, Dolphins, Raiders, and Titans. The Texans have a 4-1 record against these teams and the Steelers are 2-3 against these teams. Post-Steelers Eliminating Rant, Normal Stuff
Well now that I figured out how my arch-enemy can be eliminated here's my normal entry:
Penguins...you disappoint me. Home against New Jersey, Division lead on the line and you don't even score a goal. 4-0 loss = embarrassment.
Cavs took care of business though giving Phoenix their first loss at home 109-91. Apparently that snapped a 19-game home win streak for the Suns dating back to March when, yes, the Cavs beat them! It always seems like we have trouble with Phoenix in the past, but we've swept them easily for the regular season now...maybe its because its Shaq's old team. Although when I looked at the gametracker at one point Shaq had 1 point and 3 fouls. He finished with 3 points.
Giants took care of business today. 45-12 over Skins. Dallas has got to be glad they knocked off the Saints and they better hope they win out against Washington and Philly. Giants do have to play @Minnesota final week though as well.
That's all I got for today. Tomorrow I will be attending the Zips game at least for most of the first half, because I still have to work as of now and I will try to watch the Oregon State bowl game. Go Beavers!

Terrible Day in Sports
Seriously the NFL has got to be rigged some how, some way. I mean how could every scenario that helps Pittsburgh take place:
Jaguars lose to Colts
Falcons beat the Jets
Titans beat the Dolphins
Raiders beat the Broncos
Steelers beat the Packers
Pretty much the only two games that had to do with the Steelers not making the playoffs that didn't help them were: Baltimore beating Chicago and Houston beating St. Louis.
Pittsburgh is having a terrible terrible year, 5-straight losses including to the Raiders, Chiefs, and Browns, yet they are still very much alive. Steelers win out they will be 9-7, if this happens the final standings will look something like this:
Baltimore 9-7 (@PIT L, @OAK W)
Steelers 9-7 (BAL W, @MIA W)
Denver 9-7 (@PHL L, KC W)
Titans 9-7 (SD W, @SEA W)
Jaguars 8-8 (@NE L, @CLE W)

Baltimore would get the 5th seed because they have a better division record than the Steelers and the Steelers would get the 6th seed because they beat both the Broncos and Titans. I don't think you people realize how important it is that Baltimore wins next week. Just because an idiot couldn't make a sack, and a defender couldn't stop a sick catch, the Steelers might make the playoffs.
Here's a dark horse though. If the Texans beat the Dolphins next week, then they will play New England the final week, who could be resting their starters or tanking like they did in 2005. YES YOU TANKED AGAINST THE DOLPHINS SO YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO PLAY THE STEELERS FIRST ROUND YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED OUT. Anyways Texans could win out and have a 6-6 AFC Record which may propel them into the spot.
Either way Steelers need to lose one more game or they will be in, you heard it here first. They got Baltimore at home, who is rolling, and then at Miami. So we'll see.
My Bengals disappointed me today. I expected to lose, but I got my hopes up at the end just to have them crushed. That fluke fumble deep in Chargers terroritory that netted negative 26 yards absolutely killed a drive that I KNOW was headed for the endzone. What a play by Palmer on that play though, he sacrificed his entire body and leaped like I've never seen him to fall on that fumble. Bengals had a 2nd and 36 then made it 4th and 8 and kicked a field goal. So basically if they had a 2nd and 8 like it should of been they would have easily gotten another first down. More time would have gone off the clock and either they get a field goal and go to overtime or score a game winning touchdown. Chargers really wouldn't have had a chance. It really sucks they couldn't win the game after Chris Henry's death. However, I hope this team can regroup and defeat the Chiefs. If they don't then you can forget about the Division. Baltimore is on a roll and if they beat the Steelers they will be Oakland for the division and the Bengals will lose to the Jets. Magic Number has been stuck on 1 for awhile. I think they will beat the Chiefs, but who knows in this league.
The Chiefs may be a little pissed off though because the Browns ran all over them. Cribbs 8 Kickoff Returns for Touchdowns in his career now, first all-time. He had 2 vs. the Chiefs and Jerome Harrison had 286 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. Yes, 286, wow! That's not only a Browns record, thats 3rd most all-time, ironically he eclipsed Corey Dillon's 4th most mark of 278 yards, and I was wearing his jersey Sunday! 41-34, this only a week after they won 13-6. Browns are bi-polar. And a win @Arrowhead in December. I hope the Chiefs aren't too pissed when they face the Bengals Sunday, or we are screwed. However, Larry Johnson will be going against his old team, and we know what happened when Benson went against the Bears.
The most shocking game of the day to me was how the Panthers just dominated the Vikings. I was thinking Vikings Super Bowl Champions and the Panthers just manhandled them 26-7. Maybe it was a fluke, maybe not, but Saints fans can breathe easier now for home field advantage. Eagles and Cowboys are both dark horses in the NFC though.
In other news the Cavs lost to the Mavericks 102-95. Terry put in a layup with 0.6 seconds. I don't think he meant anything intentional, but that was kind of rubbing it in. The Mavs let the Cavs throw a fullcourt pass for a chance to score in the final 0.6, uncontested apparently the shot didn't get off in time or something cause the final score didn't count it. No Nowitzki and the Cavs still lose.
The Zips dominated St. Francis today 80-51. Zeke was pretty dominate, had some sick dunks. Got to see Steve Sweich which was great cause you know your winning by a lot when he comes in! No offense Sweich you are a beast! Not many Rowdies there, probably less than 20. I was not at full strength as I had a severe cold, but still managed to support my Zips. I can't wait for MAC play to start, these games are rather dull. Tuesday we have UIC.

Baltimore is on a roll and if they beat the Steelers they will be Oakland for the division and the Bengals will lose to the Jets. Magic Number has been stuck on 1 for awhile. I think they will beat the Chiefs, but who knows in this league.
The Chiefs may be a little pissed off though because the Browns ran all over them. Cribbs 8 Kickoff Returns for Touchdowns in his career now, first all-time. He had 2 vs. the Chiefs and Jerome Harrison had 286 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. Yes, 286, wow! That's not only a Browns record, thats 3rd most all-time, ironically he eclipsed Corey Dillon's 4th most mark of 278 yards, and I was wearing his jersey Sunday! 41-34, this only a week after they won 13-6. Browns are bi-polar. And a win @Arrowhead in December. I hope the Chiefs aren't too pissed when they face the Bengals Sunday, or we are screwed. However, Larry Johnson will be going against his old team, and we know what happened when Benson went against the Bears.
The most shocking game of the day to me was how the Panthers just dominated the Vikings. I was thinking Vikings Super Bowl Champions and the Panthers just manhandled them 26-7. Maybe it was a fluke, maybe not, but Saints fans can breathe easier now for home field advantage. Eagles and Cowboys are both dark horses in the NFC though.
In other news the Cavs lost to the Mavericks 102-95. Terry put in a layup with 0.6 seconds. I don't think he meant anything intentional, but that was kind of rubbing it in. The Mavs let the Cavs throw a fullcourt pass for a chance to score in the final 0.6, uncontested apparently the shot didn't get off in time or something cause the final score didn't count it. No Nowitzki and the Cavs still lose.
The Zips dominated St. Francis today 80-51. Zeke was pretty dominate, had some sick dunks. Got to see Steve Sweich which was great cause you know your winning by a lot when he comes in! No offense Sweich you are a beast! Not many Rowdies there, probably less than 20. I was not at full strength as I had a severe cold, but still managed to support my Zips. I can't wait for MAC play to start, these games are rather dull. Tuesday we have UIC.

Start of the Bowls, Pens/Penn State Domiance, Saints Not Perfect
Yesterday was a busy day in sports overall. The start of the 30+ Bowl Games got underway yesterday. The St. Petersburgh Bowl between Rutgers and UCF was boring, but the New Mexico Bowl was not. Wyoming was down 28-17 and came back to tie the game at 28-28 with a late field goal. Fresno State stormed right down inside the 2 yard line in the first overtime, but somehow Wyoming stopped them 4 straight times, in one of the greatest goal line stands I've ever seen. I remember when Syracuse tried to score against Iowa 8 times in goal to go situations (because of a penalty they had 8) and that was the greatest goalline stand I've ever seen. But then Wyoming played the game stupid and conservative. Barely gaining in yardage and not trying to help out there kicker. Needless to say he missed it wide left. But in the second overtime Wyoming got aggressive and scored a TD and then their defense held to give them a 35-28 victory. A 6-6 team, who was 4-4 in a crappy conference won a bowl game. If only you could get to 6-6 Zips if only. By the way, when Wyoming won the game, their fans rushed the field, if only Zips fans could do that as well. One other note from this game: The announcer said that the offense needed to be careful in overtime because a Defensive score means the end of the game. For as long as I've known defensive possession in college overtime means the ball is dead and a defenseive touchdown cannot be scored (maybe a safety though idk), either I'm completely nieve to the rule, there are new rules, or this announcer needs to learn the rules. For Pete sake he's announcing on ESPN and he doesn't even know the rules.

True dominance and class in Penn State volleyball. As a result Texas probably will not win a national title this year because Bama is gonna roast them in football. Texas girl with the last name Hooker was a beast, I would not want to defend her spikes. Great job for both teams, great fight.
Finally lets talk about the Saints. 13-1, I'm pretty disappointed, but got to give the Cowboys credit. They came into the SuperDome and smacked the Saints in the mouth, getting pressure on Drew Brees all day long. You guys need to get a new kicker though, Nick Folk has now missed 10 field goals this season, that's 30 points off the board. His 24-yarder ringing off the post gave the Saints life, but the drive just took too long and the boys forced a fumble. Valiant comeback effort by the Saints, but it was not enough. I was hoping for 16-0 and even 19-0 for my 3rd favorite team, but getting a loss out of the way isn't such a bad thing, if they clinch homefield next week then they can rest their starters Week 17, it will also take the pressure off them. I think the Colts will still go undefeated in the regular season, we shall see in the playoffs. Another good thing that comes out of this is that the Cowboys may make the playoffs over the Giants and Falcons, which I would prefer Dallas over both those teams, they really need to win out though because Giants have the tie-breaker. The Saints win eliminates Seattle and Carolina.

I will be watching a little of the Browns-Chiefs game and whatever game is on FOX from 1-1:30. The reason I say whatever is on FOX is because originally the Ravens-Bears game was scheduled in that time slot, but since the Bears got delayed coming out of Chicago airport last night, the game got pushed to 4:15. After that I will be going to the Akron vs. St. Francis basketball game, then depending on if I'm still sick or if I'm well enough I will either help out with Sports Power Talk for WZIP Sports or stay home, either way I will be watching my Bengals play the Chargers. Which...isn't on television by the way...Honestly it should be on NBC tonight. I checked and they still do have the FLEX schedule, yet they still show the Vikings vs. the eliminated Panthers. I don't understand how Chargers 10-3 vs. Bengals 9-4 battling for the 2nd seed isn't a better game than the Vikings-Panthers, but whatever Bengals are 1 win or one Baltimore loss away from winning the AFC North and yet they have 0 Primetime games this year.

Leopards Dominate, Zips and Cavs Win!
Was impressed today by the Louisville Leopards basketball team. Went to see there game at my Alma Mater, saw most of the JV and all of the varsity. My friend Michael Ludwig showed up in about the 4th quarter of the JV game.
The JV led 18-10 when I got there, before taking a 24-12 lead. Of course Northwest then decided to go on a 12-0 run and it was 24-24. Leopards slugged it out with a 49-40 victory though.
In the Varsity game Leopards started off slow, but eventually showed their superiority to the Northwest boys. Leopards height seemed to be too much for Northwaste, however Northpest seemed to get more rebounds than they should have. The Leopards hit a 3 at the buzzer to end the first half leading 27-21. They duplicated that feat at the end of the third quarter on an inbounds pass with 3 seconds left. The first Leopard miss then on the put back another Leopard put it up and in to make it 48-31 Leps after 3. I got nervous in the 4th as the Leopards tried to run a 4-corner stall, but kept turning the ball over. Northwest actually cut the lead to 53-46 at one point before the Leopards sealed the deal.
Its always something that seems to haunt the Leopards...stalling. It killed them last year in the tournament, they had a lead on Minerva late but couldn't keep it because they couldn't stall. Hopefully they will fix that this season.
Student section was okay, they really need to see the AK-Rowdies one game to show them how to do it. Of course, part of the problem is the restrictions put on students by the administration on "good sportsmanship." Apparently we are supposed to be nice to the enemy these days. I think its crap, I think that takes the fun away. I'm not saying profanity is correct, but you should be able to heckle the other players by name and call them names, its sports COME ON!
Another thing that bugs me at Louisville and Akron is that we are no longer allowed to storm the field or storm the court. There are two times that I remember vividly doing this and its some of the greatest moments of my life. The Leopards beat Carrollton I believe to win the NBC and the entire student section stormed the court and cheered it was great. The other time was when the Leopards came back from 21-0 with 6:47 left against Canton South to win 27-21 OT. We stormed the field to the team and it was an unbelievable feeling. I see students storm the field all the time at big-time schools on TV and it looks awesome...pry helps recruiting and helps fan participation and helps getting people to apply for that college, but yah just keep sucking at life Akron and Louisville and don't let us storm the court/field!
Anyways that's my rant. Zips won 83-59 over UNC Greensboro...guess that means free wings at Scorchers and Tap House...I will pry take advantage of the Tap House offer...wish it were still scorchers though. The Cavs also beat the Bucks. The Bucks have lost so many close games this year, they are ready to breakout soon I think, just got to finish games. Apparently the Zips soccer team was honored at halftime of the Cavs game, I don't know if this was on TV (FSN Ohio) or if it was just live at the Q that they did this.

First Entry - Mixed Feelings
I just came off one of the most rollercoaster rides in sports this past week.
Thursday Night a miracle happened. The Browns came to play and beat the Steelers 13-6. No Touchdowns! As a Bengals fan I rejoice in seeing Worthlessberger go 0-2 in Ohio this year and this all but eliminates the Steelers from the playoff picture.
Friday I headed up down to North Carolina with the Rowdies off one hour of sleep. I worked 12-4 AM then slept for an hour and got all my stuff and headed to the JAR at 6:00 AM. People started filing in around 6:30 AM and the book took off at 7. After the long 9-10 hour bus ride that only had one stop we arrived at the hotel. Gotta give props to the alumni on paying for our hotel room and bus trip. Only tickets and food were what we purchased.
Anyways we went to WakeMed Soccer Park. Willy wrote a poem on the bus and gave it, it was hilarious and modivational. I watched Wake Forest lose in overtime at the hands of my archenemy Diego 2-1. Some hott Wake Forest chicks tried to sell there championship tickets to us, no takers from what I saw. Anyways long story short Zips and Tar Heels battled for 110 minutes with no score. UNC was very fast, a red card from a double yellow card gave the Zips an 11-10 advantage on the field from late second half through both overtimes but couldn't capitalize. The 0-0 tie led to penalty kicks and the Zips preveiled 5-4. I was pacing back and forth not wanting to watch the PKs, too nerve-racking. I prefer Golden Goal to end the game. Anyways Akron got credited with a tie, ending there 23-game winning streak which is tied for 1st all-time. We celebrated and went back to the hotel. When I watched the replay of the game on TV the next day it was pretty clear we were the dominate crowd noise.
Sunday didn't have the same feel to it as Friday did...maybe it was because the weather was warmer, the rain? the fact that Willy didn't give a poem? or that we were heckled by the administration? It just didn't feel right. The game was very similiar to Fridays game, minus one factor: Diego. Yes that demonic goalie that knocked us out of the playoffs in 2007 and flipped us the bird when South Florida handed Akron its last loss at Lee Jackson Field, he transferred to Virginia. We heckled him to no end, and cheered our lungs out. I know my voice hasn't been the same since. After 110 minutes of no scoring, which Akron dominated in field possession we went to PKs again. When Virginia took a 3-1 lead there was little hope in the Rowdies hearts. But two saves by goalie David Meves gave the Zips a chance to tie the game and send it into extra PKs. With PKs at 3-2 Virginia, Diego dived the wrong way, but Blair Gavin's kick went over the goal. The Zips lost in the championship without giving up a goal the entire tournament. The Virginia players taunted us flipped us the bird, etc. before celebrating with their own fans. It is one thing for fans to be cocky and taunt other fans, but no athletes should EVER do this to fans. Anyways many Rowdies were in tears, otheres were furious, and others were just in shock. The bus was quiet, as was the ride back for the most part. So close it hurts. Officially we ended the season 23-1-1, but in my book we are either 24-1 or 23-0-2, either have the winning streak record or are undefeated pick one NCAA. "We'll be back next year" just didn't cheer me up this time.
The Bengals lost 30-10 to the Vikings Sunday as well, I didn't care, but it also didn't help. The Cardinals getting swept by the 49ers on Monday Night didn't boost my spirits either, but at least the Saints are 13-0 and the Browns beat the Steelers on the "13th" try.
My Cavs and Penguins didn't disappoint this week either. Cavs beat the Thunder, Nets, and 76ers this week. Pens knocked off the hated Flyers twice this week, including today in shootouts! Ironically since they played in Philadelphia, some of the Pens players went to the 76ers-Cavs game the night before. Malkin said that Lebron was "Big." lol
Then just when my spirits seemed to be boosted and I began to get over Sunday's loss...it hit. Chris Henry at the age of 26 died in North Carolina (I'm really beginning to hate that state), this morning. Henry changed his life around, and he really was one of my favorite players. With his heighth and speed he had so much potential, but he fell out of a truck and eventually passed away from fatal wounds. Bengaldom is in shock today, first Zimmer's wife now this, this team has endured a lot. Ochocinco who is always happy to see the media broke down into tears, that really got me. This wasn't any fake Chad crying about not getting the ball, this was Ocho trying to hold back the tears but couldn't, truly a tradgedy in that locker room. I hope the Bengals can rebound from this and take it to San Diego Sunday, maybe not win the Super Bowl from this, but at least win a playoff game. Dedicate the rest of the season to Henry. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the Bengals players. SLIM was truly a changed player and will be remembered...Unbelievable he was just playing a month ago, I was just talking about him yesterday before the reck about how great we would be if he was still healthy, but now he's gone. It's like a lost a distant family member, never knew him personally, but he was still family, still watched him from being drafted till now. He was misunderstood. I only hope and pray he found Christ before he died, I know when he scored a touchdown this year or last he pointed to the sky. I can't believe he is dead, God Rest his sole!

I hope the Bengals can rebound from this and take it to San Diego Sunday, maybe not win the Super Bowl from this, but at least win a playoff game. Dedicate the rest of the season to Henry. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the Bengals players. SLIM was truly a changed player and will be remembered...Unbelievable he was just playing a month ago, I was just talking about him yesterday before the reck about how great we would be if he was still healthy, but now he's gone. It's like a lost a distant family member, never knew him personally, but he was still family, still watched him from being drafted till now. He was misunderstood. I only hope and pray he found Christ before he died, I know when he scored a touchdown this year or last he pointed to the sky. I can't believe he is dead, God Rest his sole!
